Man Tees

He absolutely wanted to be in the picture :)

I made two t-shirts for my boyfriend for Christmas that were inspired by 1970s t-shirt illustrations on pattern envelopes. In particular this one here:

This t-shirt is adorable. I wonder if it's the raglan-sleeves or the contrasting cuff and neck finishes or the little pocket that make it so old school? Or is the bright yellow? Or the close fit? What do you say?

At first I was planning to buy this raglan-sleeved men's t-shirt pattern or a similar one but then I thought: "Hey, what could be simpler than making my own pattern out of an old t-shirt?"

And I was right. I had an old t-shirt my boyfriend didn't wear anymore and I chalked in some raglan-sleeve lines and cut up the shirt along these lines resulting in 3 simple pattern pieces: front, back and sleeve.

It was super fun to make these shirts. A little addictive even. And doesn't he look cute in his new seventies style?!

If any of you would like to make their own raglan-sleeved 70's inspired men's tees like these here and would like clearer instructions to follow, let me know and I'll put up a little tutorial.
