Zinnia Jungle Skirt

It started raining!
Hi everyone! I noticed I haven't posted in a while. Lots has been going on and I'm also recently more active on Twitter and Instagram, which allow me to share tiny sewing tidbits more often without the commitment of whole blog posts, which is a blessing at busy times. If you are on either of these social media outlets, let me know and we'll follow each other. My Twitter handle is @StarcrossSewing and my Instagram handle is @starcross_sewing. There is also a Twitter button that links directly to my page just under my header to the right on this blog.

But no worries, I won't abandon the blog. I have tons of posts planned, as always, but for today I'm sharing one of my more recent wotk makes with you.

I taught a Zinnia skirt class in work a month or so ago, and in order to test the pattern, I made it up in some funky prints we had in the shop. Crazy flowers and leopard print go together surprisingly well, although my work mates were initially doubtful.

I also made cover buttons to match - or rather to contrast, I suppose.

Unfortunately, I will no longer teach any Zinnia skirt classes in work for the time being, as the classroom just turned out to be too small to have students wrangle with the amounts of fabric necessary to cut the Zinnia skirt.

I'm resorting to the more space and fabric conserving Ginger skirt for my next skirt beginner class. Yes, and you guessed it, I made that one too, in preparation for my class. Pictures to follow.

Hope you like my Jungle Zinnia. See you soon with more projects and a pattern review for April's A Year in Indie Patterns just in the nick of time.
