Purple Bombshell on the English Riviera

Yes! I did it! I actually sewed a piece of swimwear: The Bombshell Swimsuit!

I followed the Sew-Along on Closet Case Files almost to a T and all the pictures and instructions were very helpful. As you can see I made up View A. I love the ruching and the low cut leg openings. I so prefer those to the usual high-cut styles you find in the shops. It just makes me feel more covered up and lady-like.

In these pictures you can see me flaunting my swimsuit on an exceptionally warm day on the English Riviera. Excuse the nervous and self-conscious smile but I'm not used to posing in a swimsuit in front of a camera on a crowded beach.

My final swimsuit verdict: Putting together a swimsuit is not actually that difficult. The tricky bit is to get yourself to "just do it", then sourcing the material (see for some helpful links I put together here) and then (if needed) adding adequate boob support.

That last part is tricky indeed and I'll devote a whole post to it later this week, showing you the carefully engineered inside of my Bombshell. I mean, you didn't think I looked this good without some carefully added padding and boning, did you?!

So long, happy summer sewing! And don't forget to check out all the amazing Bombshell swimsuits in the dedicated  flickr group... and then go ahead and add your own :)
