Have you heard of
Your Style Rocks? Your Style Rocks is a site full of lovely free printable patterns, which members have designed and submitted, are then voted on, and the most popular design gets turned into a pattern. Their contests are currently suspended because they have quite a backlog of winning designs that have not yet been made into patterns. Many are really nice and I'm looking forward to the new pattern releases.
My absolute favourite is the
Eva dress pattern. It's a very flattering, easy-to-sew, cowl-neck knit dress with draped pleats at the waist.
I made my version to go to a musical premiere in which my best friend starred. I was too excited and nervous to be taking any photos on the actual evening but here I'm wearing the dress again in my bedroom.
It's kind of an elegant dress: the fabric is a very heavy jersey, which didn't need to be lined, and has a slight shine to it, so I really only wear it on evenings out. But the dress could easily work as a day-time dress in a more casual jersey - perhaps even a light-weight sweatshirt jersey.

here you can see the - ehm, somewhat creased - nice pleats at the waist |
My dress ended up looking eerily similar to the version shown on their website. A good thing, I guess. The pattern really does what it says.
I think the dress is quite flattering without being revealing. The only thing I'd probably change if I made this dress again is the back. I think the back tuck looks more like an afterthought and may look nicer if distributed into more than just one huge tuck.
