I have had this Colette pattern for ages and never got around to sewing it. Honestly, I was a bit afraid of messing up since so many people have reported fit problems with this particular dress and found it difficult to sew because of the many pieces.
Then I found this black cotton at a fleamarket (many meters of it!) and thought I'd give it a go. I absolutely love this dress. It's become a staple in my wardrobe. I can pair it with all sorts of tights and cardigans and belts and it never gets boring. And it wasn't difficult to sew at all!
Fitting the dress was a breeze. Colette patterns are just very easy to fit to my figure. I think the only change I made was to tighten the neckline a little along the yoke-bodice seam, so the neckline wouldn't gape. And I think I added just a teeny bit of length and width to the bust. Fit-wise, Colette patterns and me are just a match made in heaven. And if I may say so myself, I think the shape of the dress works really well with my figure.
These pictures are taken in my backyard in Exeter with my new equipment: a new camera, a tripod and a remote shutter. These new gadgets make taking photos so much easier and so much more fun.
Me and my remote shutter - oops and my facing wasn't tucked in at the back - ahh the troubles of taking your own photos |
What was your experience with the Colette Ceylon? Have you made one? If you are a curvier kind of woman, I would really recommend this pattern. It nips in really nicely at the waist to make you feel less boxy and humongous.
