From the Vaults: Port Elizabeth #2

Bye, bye July! Hello, August! How time flies! July went by in a whizz with holidays in Norway, visitors for a week and a couple of new freelance jobs to keep me superbusy. So, July ended up being a complete no-sew month. Yesterday I finally had some time for sewing again and was so happy when I could feel how I was back in the zone -  the sewing zone, if you know what I mean! That time and space when nothing else matters. I made a quick Sorbetto Top to ease me back into sewing but haven't taken any pics. So nothing to share with you yet. Sadness.

In the meantime, I thought I'd show you one of the other many, many projects I have yet to share with the blogging world. I'm the absolute laziest when it comes to taking photos (see Sorbetto above), so a lot of my projects end up being photographed months after finishing them. This kind of spoils the spur-of-the-moment, real-time blogging feel but nevertheless I like to make an effort to share all my creations online at some point.

So, this issue of From the Vaults features my second attempt at a Port Elizabeth blouse (first attempt here), made circa March 2011:

This time I experimented with a scalloped Peter Pan collar and a keyhole opening with a tiny cute button in the back:

I do like the collar and keyhole but think the scallops are not very noticeable on this busy pattern.

This type of design may have been more prominent with a solid color fabric. Maybe I will make it again in a different fabric. I used to wear the blouse loads but have recently become annyoed with how short it is. I really do recommend to lengthen this pattern, especially if you want to tuck it into your trousers or skirts. Hope you like the blouse and it inspires more Port Elizabeth creations. This is a wonderfully easy and wearable pattern.
