Pigeon Blue Pillow Talk Bed Jacket

I made a new crochet cardi! This was an amazingly quick and easy project. I found the pattern on ravelry. It's called "Pillow Talk Bed Jacketby Crochet Kitten, but I'm certainly not using this as a bed jacket. It's coming outside with me. You can also find the pattern on their website directly, if you are not a ravelry member.

Normally, crochet cardigans can be very dense and heavy due to the nature of crochet stitches, like my Red Emma. But this cardigan is very light and airy, because the bulk of the cardigan is made with single stitches into the back loop of each stitch only. This creates a ribbed effect that somewhat mimics knit stitches.

If you want to get into crocheting something wearable for yourself, I think this is a good project to start with. It doesn't take too long, because the cardigan is only short and uses Aran weight yarn, which is easy and quick to work with.

This time around I was also clever enough not to use wool but a mix of cotton and acrylic, which means I can wear this cardigan in spring and fall, and even summer - well, in English summer. My woolly Red Emma has meanwhile been resting in my closet, waiting for those freezing temperatures to come back.

Look! I'm wearing my Colette Ceylon with my new cardi!

On a different note, don't forget to enter the Named pattern giveaway. It's open until Monday next week. Good luck!
